Wildlife with flash

I don't really like using flash with my bird photography.
 But it really wet and grey here this morning.At 1/250 sec. @ f6.3.The ISO went off the scale.So out came the flash gun!
 I managed to anchor the ISO @ 1000. 1/320 sec.f6.3
The Goldfinch twitched a bit but got used to it in the end.
   But I think it's a better shot than without flash?
