Wispy

One of my favorite plants in the back yard that isn't covered with a two foot blanket of snow, is a tall, handsome clump of Flame Grass.

Its long, green blades turned brilliant red and gold in fall and now, in its dormant state, it provides a garden soundtrack of soft rustling, even in the slightest breeze. If you can pretend that it is about thirty degrees warmer, it almost sounds like a gentle rainfall.

The silky, golden hairs of the seedheads capture and hold an amazing amount of snow, turning them into heavy, drooping arches. The next day, they ususally bounce back up, continuing their graceful dance.

Thanks nursery guy, for not exaggerating when you said it was a plant for all seasons!
