Mrs. Kingfisher
After a run of gloomy, grey days it was a beautiful morning, so Pete and I went for a decent walk round Thorpe Wood and Ferry Meadows - an interlude of fresh air and exercise before the next Christmas engagement, with yet more eating and drinking!
As we were walking over Bluebell Bridge I jokingly said it would be obliging if a kingfisher turned up - and to my amazement a second later this female flew in and perched among some twigs. She was a bit distant and therefore this image is heavily cropped, but it's not everyday I manage to photograph one, so it had to be today's blip.
