The Strid

We had planned to blow out the Boxing Day cobwebs with a walk up Pen-y-Ghent today, but we opened the curtains to sleet and decided to stay low instead with a ride out to Bolton Abbey.  We crossed the bridge at the Pavilion and walked upriver, recrossing on the bridge which featured in the recent Guy Fawkes tv series near to Barden, before pausing awhile in the Strid tearooms for a cuppa.

There was a lot of water coming down the river!
