Strange angle...

I started putting pastels on the painting i began a few days ago....haven't been wildly motivated to do more to it, until today.   Felt like it needed to have a new layer of transparent gesso on top of all the pastels, which will allow me to add many more layers of pastels.....this is the side view which offers this distortion because it is still wet....i loved the kinda dreamy quality of it that happens when the gesso mingles with the pastels.

I find it hard to assess my progress at times....feels like i'm improving but then i get despondent and think i should be further ahead....it's a bit of a roller coaster for sure.

Terry is off to a Boxing day gathering of friends.....i decided to sit this one out, mainly cos i'm still not feeling terribly social and feel like i need the  comfort and security of my own home right now.  There is also lots of ice covered with snow out there, so that adds to my fear of slipping! So i made a big pot of lentil/veggie soup and will be happy to curl up in front of the fire and telly and watch some netflix!!  There is some lovely homemade eggnog in the fridge so i'll be just fine!
