Anyone for tea?

I read that tomato ketchup was very good for cleaning copper but after trying it, decided that it wasn't making much difference to this kettle that I had given my mother years ago. But I am really thankful to have my electric kettle although in a power cut this could be of use provided I had meths to put in the spirit burner.
