A light Dusting of Snow

Location: Glacial Boulder, Chase Road, Cannock Chase


We had just a light dusting of snow overnight.  Nothing like the snow that had caused disruption to traffic further south the day before.  Still it was worth an early visit onto the Chase to welcome the sunrise.  In fact this was a good 30 minutes before the sun finally showed itself above the horizon, despite this being one of the higher locations on the Chase.  Even more surprisingly it was the first shot of the day.

Technical:  A straight shot with 2 stop hard ND filter in front of the lens.  The foreground had to be lightened considerably in post processing by using a gradient filter.  I'd also shot with a sunshine white balance so I warmed up the resultant image.
