So, if you remember this close call and this little quadtych you'll know that i've been working with 16mm motion film lately. We shoot on a camera called the Paillard Bolex. They are all old and finicky, requiring great care and a loving touch. This little illustration is hung outside the cage where we rent out our equipment. It is referring to the first time a student loads/unloads their camera with film because, like still film, it has to be done in the dark. Unlike still film their is a whole tricky mechanical feeding and take up process that you have to go through. And i can attest, it is awkward the first time.
If notice the amendment, it was added later by a graffiti artist who must have thought he was being clever.
