Snow, snow snow!
It started snowing yesterday afternoon and snowed all through the night. When we woke up this morning everything was white with a low cloud hiding the mountains. See the extra for the view from our terrace this morning. I was very reluctant to go up the mountain as I am a fair weather skier, but against my better judgement I decided to go.
The boys went up one mountain, where Adam was due to have a day of ski race training, and we went up another mountain where Bianca and Kevin were joining their ski school for lessons. There was very low cloud and poor visibility, and as we stepped outside from the ski lift up the mountain, we were met by icy snow was blowing everywhere. Bianca and Kevin went off with the instructor and surprisingly had a very enjoyable morning - they did not go up high so the visibility was not too bad where they had lessons - I immediately decided not to ski and went straight to the cafe for a coffee - wise woman that I am! - and Gavin went off to do some runs, returning shortly afterwards with a red, snow blasted face muttering how he could not see anything and how awful it was! The boys texted us to say there was a blizzard up their mountain and most of the the runs were closed so they could not get to where they wanted to be, so they just skied down and came home. The race training was cancelled. So it was all a bit of a waste of time. There is either not enough snow or just too much snow, although sometimes we do get perfect conditions!
This image was taken over the village reservoir lake - the snow was constantly blowing in to my lens, you can see the streaks of snow in the foreground.
Tonight, bratwurst and rösti for supper - and hopefully the next episode of Little Woman.
