Spectacular Chinese Lanterns

A day of tidying papers - at last! - drafting some papers then off sharp to join the family at the Chinese lantern display at a Edinburgh Zoo. As with the Botanics the other week it was bitterly cold and my fingers felt frozen as I kept taking photographs. But there was so much to see.

From 2m high snowdrops to lions and zebras, to frogs (see extra) to an unrealistic panda breeding programme, to snails, beavers, butterflies, penguins, flamingos and so on. Then a pagoda beside which there was an excellent acrobatic show. How the performers managed in temperatures of -1oC in flimsy clothing, I do not know. One was juggling seven balls simultaneously.

A really enjoyable evening. And enough potential blips to fill an album.
