Every Friday lunchtime, A's uncle comes to eat with his sister, so we got to see him today. At 92, he's the oldest in the immediate family on either side. Later in the afternoon, we got some old photos out and I scanned this one of A's mother's family, taken outside the family farm in 1954. The uncle is the one wearing the tie: as the oldest, he was the one who had an education: his younger brothers worked the land.
