Hay for Herdwicks

I thought this was an unusual sight for December until I realised that it was en route to farms for their Herdwicks. The weeks from Christmas until March are the greyest, wettest, snowiest and most testing for these sheep; it is during this period that they are pregnant with lambing starting around April 1st. This hay is vital to supplement their nutrition during the hardest weather and nearer to lambing.
