Silly Saturday 65 - And packages

Thought we’d have a stroll down the cliff top slope to the Pier Approach before Storm Dylan (strong wind and heavy rain) arrives.

On the way I peered over the wall surrounding the old IMAX site. Sometimes there is a fairground, a marquee, some other event, or just nothing. Today was different - all these packages. All rather weird.

I had photos of people pushing penguins on the ice. But I don’t know, this one wanted to be today’s choice. Silly really?.

“The 'most hated building' in Britain has finally been torn down to make way for the beautiful sea views it once ruined.

The IMAX cinema complex - which once topped a poll of buildings people would most like to see demolished - sparked controversy and criticism as soon as it was built on the seafront in Bournemouth, Dorset, in 1998.

The 50ft tall glass structure was branded an 'eyesore' and 'hideous monstrosity' by residents, furious that it blocked the picturesque view of Poole Bay and the Isle of Purbeck.

Two years ago the complex was bought by the local council for £7.5 million.

But town hall officials - bowing to the demand of the public who wanted the famous view returned - had purchased the complex just to demolish it.

The Waterfront Complex, as it is known, has now been flattened and the site will become an open arts space”
