Lucky last day for 2017
While entertaining visiting family from Wanganui on the back patio this morning a small butterfly/moth flew past and flitted along several plants. While I dashed for camera they kept an eye on where it went. It finally settled on the phlox and I was lucky enough to get a few photos.
Out came the books and we soon found it. Magpie moth which makes perfect sense when you see the colours and pattern.Nyctemera annulata it is diurnal- flies in the morning and at night.
An extra now I have freed one up.
Our day started off sunny but now overcast without a breath of wind. Some rain forecast but not sure we will get anything much. We are unlikely to see the new year in so I will see you all next year at a more civilised hour.
