Too Close for Comfort

This is one aspect of life in the Blue Mountains.  We came across this guy on the grass outside our next door neighbour's house.  For blippers outside Australia it's a red-bellied black snake.  (Yes, we Aussies go for the obvious when we name things.)  It's venomous but not as much as some of our snakes.  He was probably a bit under two metres long.
