Happy New Year

We'd planned to go for a walk with Anne at lunchtime and as I got into the car to go to town to buy some bread for sandwiches, the heavens opened.
I called Anne and we agreed to cancel the walk. Penny had stared to make a flask of tea and as she did she saw that the glass inside had shattered (that's our 3rd glass flask that has broken).
I went to town to get some bread and picked up Erin on the way back home. I'd let Olwen out when I'd got up at 7.30am and she'd still not returned by lunchtime. When I got back home from the shops, I could see a worried look on Penny's face. She'd found Olwen in the garden (in the pouring rain) unable to walk properly. She wasn't putting any weight on her front paw but she didn't seem to be in a lot of pain. I called the vet's and they told me to keep an eye on her and to call back for an emergency appointment if she got worse (which she didn't).
In the evening, we went to Dan and Anne's for dinner. We walked home around 11pm. Ben and Jack went to bed but Penny and I stayed up to see in the new year.
