Medieval mountain villages

The villages of St Oyen (main) and Etroubles (extra) in the Aosta Valley lie on the historic pilgrim's route from Canterbury to Rome, the via Francigena. They catered for the traveller and still do to this day.
Last night we (Malcolm, Mum and I) sipped prosecco at midnight from the balcony overlooking the firework displays in the village as we saw in the New Year.
Today after a burst on the cross-country skis and a delicious coffee we strolled around the village in the warm sunshine, enjoying a step back in time.
