a glimpse of hope
In a corner, reflecting brief sunlight, I saw them. A few small meteorites of bright orange amongst decaying undergrowth. A hint of what is to come, of the perseverance of nature, where flowers and plants emerge, untended, often against the odds. I was encouraged and challenged in equal amounts. Encouraged - in that the days have turned and a new year beckons. Challenged, because that newness, that "not yet" of 2018, requires me to do something. I need to be a creator of new beginnings, an enabler of the progress of others. So, signs of growth around me, no matter how small, are merely parables of what might be.
