The Final Show
Today was the last day of the Christmas Season at Waddesdon Manor. Although not perfect - nothing ever is - it has been as good as it gets I think. We have had record numbers of visitors and, overall, people have been impressed and enjoyed their visits.
This afternoon I was outside doing the meet and greet as people come up on the buses from the car park. I was partnered with one of the paid staff and we had plenty of time to chat amid the hustle and bustle of boarding and disembarking of bus loads. It wasn't overly busy although certainly not quiet.
At the end of my session I walked down the drive to watch the very last showing of the Light display on the mansion. As the theme of Tiny Tuesday is the Animal Kingdom, I caught an image of one of the birds in the projection and hope that counts as 'animal'. The light display will be back again next year in some form or another but it has been impressive.
So now the House is closed until mid March when the whole Waddesdon year starts again. Meanwhile, the grounds are open at weekends and there is a whole week of activities organised by the Education department over the schools half-term holiday. Waddesdon Manor is put to bed for a while.
