Where do you think you are?

I washed down the little bedroom ready for decorating now we've emptied it and stripped off the old wallpaper. When I opened the window I saw this insect sitting under the overhanging roof. I've turned him upside down to make it easier to understand. He really looked like this. Is he really a grasshopper?
