Wet, very wet

In June of last year, I made a suggestion at the local camera club AGM.  I should have known better.  I pointed out that the challenges presented to the club were quite 'technical' - night photography, using filters, ... and perhaps there was scope for a more thematic approach and gave an example of a challenge such as depicting emotion in a photograph.  I have to say there was a silence, it is after all a camera club not a photographic society.
My suggestion was prompted by an image shown by a member of a family on holiday.  It was a delightful shot, not posed but one which clearly showed the relationships amongst the family and that they were having fun.  The audience reaction to the photograph was warm, we all smiled.  'But the judges wouldn't like it', said one member and many agreed.  I thought it a pity that the joy evident through the photograph did not have a place in club activities.  Hence the suggestion.
And, of course, it is the way of these things that I was asked to do it.  I pointed out that I regarded myself as only slightly beyond the novice stage.  That had no effect, so I agreed.  So next week I give a presentation and set the challenge.
Today, I started to gather material.  Wet days are meant for this type of activity.  And the worry has started.  Not necessarily a bad thing.
Ellen's sculpture looks good in the rain.
