Bass Rock and Breakers
Coffee in the Old Forge in Tyninghame was followed by a bracing walk along the beach at Ravensheugh Sands, westwards as far as the Peffer Burn, to blow away the cobwebs and use a few of the many calories consumed over the holidays.
I have added an extra photo of a coppiced hazel, there is a group of these near the carpark. Coppicing involves cutting the trunk down to ground level, which creates fresh growth of similar-sized stems, which are allowed to grow to a certain maturity before harvesting; in this case they are likely to be used as stakes, for example to support plants or for traditional hedge-laying.
