Making tracks
Leroy is very happy and fun-loving. And destructive. He works covertly and very, very quickly. In his never ending quest for a good stick, last winter he stripped the reachable branches from our hemlocks, hydrangeas and other shrubs. He managed to obliterate all but an inch of a Japanese maple and several perennials simply disappeared from the yard.
A short fence, erected in the spring as soon as the ground was no longer frozen, was enough of a deterrent to protect what remained of the garden. Until now. All this snow has given the boy new ideas. Tracks are everywhere that he is not supposed to be!
But then he looks at us... full of joy... full of love... with those eyes... and we forgive him. But, as soon as we can manage it, there will be a taller fence!
