Tom Carrick was a popular resident of Dunscore who died a couple of years ago. He was organist at St John's Church, Dumfries, for 50 years and always brought his dog to church with him. In his will, He left a bequest to the village, and some of the money went to buy six blue benches on which We can rest and enjoy the views of the surrounding countryside. This one provided a welcome rest from cycling for my legs at the top of Black Brae.
