... Just another day in the flower basket...
Quick blip today as I've got a day of garden clean-up planned. As hubs and I were having breakfast this morning, I looked out and saw one of the squirrels in the flower basket, looking back at me. Almost as if he was daring me to do anything - nervy little thing! So, of course, I grabbed Big Daddy and fired off a few shots through my (now) clean windows - what else is a gal to do? Go ahead and look large, if you dare!
Shortly after the squirrel left, a small flock of pine siskins flew in and proceeded to have a massive food fight! They are very tiny, but make up for it with BIG attitudes. Loads of fun to watch, although I'm told they can eat you out of birdseed in no time. This is only the second time I've had them at my feeders, though, so it still feels like a treat to see them.
And now, off to pull out all the annuals and feed them to the compost pile. Then, I need to figure out what to do with all the dahlia tubers to winter them over (once I pull them up, of course...) The frost Friday night pretty well killed all the annuals, except for the straw flowers and gerberas.
Thanks for your comments on yesterday's sparrow. Our fall foliage this year is a bit a lot disappointing so that may be as good as it gets, just a bit of yellow. Oh well.
Happy Sunday!
