The old Dovecot on Twelfth Night
A bright if cold day, spent mostly round the house cleaning. Went for a wander to Musselburgh town centre to get some steps in, blipping the old dovecot at the playing fields on the way home.
The dovecot (part of the Pinkie estate) is a large 17th century one, with the intertwined initials of Sir Alexander Seton and his bride Mary Hay, who owned Pinkie Estate.
Sir Alexander (who owned neighbouring Pinkie House) was well thought of by both Mary Queen of Scots and her son James, the 6th, and was instrumental in the union of the crowns of Scotland and England. For all his efforts, Alexander was made Duke of York on Twelfth Night.
Anyway, enough of the history, I hope you have had a good Saturday.
