Cotton Bowl Bash
Sooners crush Longhorns, 63-21!!
The annual Texas State Fair game between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns was held yesterday. This game, played every year during the Texas State Fair, is between two arch rival schools--The University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas. Oklahoma's colors are crimson and cream while Texas' colors are burnt orange and white. As you can see in the picture, there is a veritable clash of colors by the fans.
The Cotton Bowl stadium opened in 1929 and became known as "The House That Doak Built" due to the immense crowds that former SMU running back Doak Walker drew to the stadium during his college career in the late 1940s. Originally known as Fair Park Stadium, it is located in Fair Park, site of the State Fair of Texas in Dallas, Texas, USA. The Cotton Bowl was the longtime home of the annual Cotton Bowl Classic college football bowl game, for which the stadium is named. In January 2010, the game was moved to Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.
We had an enjoyable time walking around the fair grounds yesterday with our friends, while the football fans were in the stadium watching the game.
