Sure was hot, mate

According to the local weather station at Mt Boyce,  Blackheath's highest temperature today was recorded as 36.2 degrees Celsius but strangely it didn't reach that mark until 5:30 pm. For us at the top of the Blue Mountains that really is a hot day ... one of the hottest since I've been here. Still ... that was pretty tame compared to Penrith at the bottom of the mountain, where it climbed to 47 degrees. No thank you.

It was sunny and clear today with generally little cloud. Here we are gazing out over the Megalong to be greeted by what can only be described as outrageous heat haze. Millions of litres of vapour rising to the heavens from the eucalypt forests below. Anyone for tennis?
