The flow

I did maintenance activities to my few geocaches today and on the same trip captured some frames of this small race at Soskuanjoki river. River has here two lines, but this was the only one where I could get a proper and somewhat safe spot for my tripod.

Past fall and this winter so far has been so rainy and warm that all rivers have been enlarged a lot comparing to normal situation due of rains and melting snow. That is then reflecting to Lake Saimaa area as well, which water line is currently about 55 cm above the normal long term average and it's still growing higher till February. To prevent damages for people living next of lakes area officials have currently increased the passage of the main river Vuoksi, which ends to Lake Ladoga in Russia. In practise that is done by big hydroelectric power plants, where they run some of the water freely passing the turbines. Usually these actions have been performed on spring time, but now 3-4 months earlier. This is another symptom of global warming thought...
