Aerial Reconnaissance
This morning was cold and icy but with a lovely blue sky. This pair of rooks were perched on a neighbour's television aerial enjoying the sun and doing a bit of preening.
We went for a walk along the canal, it was so cold that the mud had frozen and was quite slippery. We saw redwings and a large flock of siskin in the alder trees.
This afternoon we watched the FA Cup match on TV. I'm not generally a football watcher but it was Shrewsbury Town versus West Ham two divisions higher. They did well and it was a goalless draw so there will be a replay.
When I was a teenager I used to enjoy going to watch the Town's matches with my dad, auntie and uncle. Their old stadium The Gay Meadow was right on the River Severn and balls that were kicked in the river used to be retrieved by a man in a coracle.
