Ikebana

One of the things we did in the class today was make an ikebana as a group. The instructor brought all the materials and the big piece of wood is something they keep as decoration at the center. When you make ikebana, you are supposed to include something that represents earth, heaven, and then humanity (or energy) that brings heaven and earth together. 

The long horizontal branch is heaven, the base of the whole thing is earth and the piece that goes out to the side is the energy. After she started it, we all added a piece. It turned out beautifully!

It was a pretty great course. I will be curious to see what impact it has on my "art".
