Olchon Valley from Cat's Back

The training by constant climbing of the ladder has paid off! We made it to the top, in fabulous weather., with little suffering in any area. Not a breathe of wind and a very acceptable 10'c, in which the sun felt positively warm at times.

This valley was featured in the recent film 'Resistance', portraying vividly the harsh conditions faced by the inhabitants even in relatively recent times.

Even if we had not walked, the drive out was fabulous and it was good to catch up with the lives of our friends, who so generously asked us to join them. Much as we love walking, we often have to be dragged away from the many jobs to do when we are at home and we are always grateful when the endorphins are forthcoming.

Stodgey blue-berry cake and hot chocolate from the flask was a perfect reward on our return to the car. This just has to be the walk of the year so far.

Oh, and I nearly forgot the deserted church for sale, on the road home.
