Citizen of the world

I found this quote from Francis Bacon on a hotel on George Street.

It reminded me that we now live in a world where some people, let’s call them Tories (but feel free to replace this with the synonym of your choice; I’m quite partial to F***wit, but that is just me) can see this as an insult. Berating millennials for being ‘citizens of the world and so citizens of nowhere ‘ like this was a bad thing, rather that a rational and mature way to behave, when the alternative is to drape yourself in the flag (not necessarily metaphorically) and behave like a total d**k on the basis that you are naturally superior as a result of where you were born.

I hope we will laugh about this temporary lapse back into stupidity from a future where these sorts of attitudes have been firmly dealt with by the waste disposal of history,. Fingers crossed.
