Sometimes you don’t. :)

Luckily I don’t because they have all been harvested.
Pecans are harvested from November through January in Arizona. Pecan trees require irrigation but don’t suffer from diseases common to trees in humid climates.
The largest grove of irrigated pecan trees in the world lies just south of Tucson, where it’s been for the past 75 years.
