Rotra Vente
6.3C and bright with long sunny spells. Light ESE/S/SE breeze.
Yesterday was so dull and miserable that I didn't take the camera out of its case when Fergus and I went for a walk after lunch.
This week, sometime around midnight, some of the roads in town are being closed off so that the largest wind turbine sections yet made at CS Wind (out by Campbeltown airport) can be transported safely to the new quay. Six sections have arrived in the last two nights. Four are on the new quay and two are on special stands and are taking up the whole car park in front of the ferry terminal as I type.
Fergus and I went for a walk out to the old shipyard after lunch. We went round to the harbour first, to have a look at the enormous ship, Rotra Vente, that has arrived to take the wind turbine sections away. When we got to the harbour the front section of the above deck superstructure was still extended so the whole cargo hold was covered. By the time we got back from the shipyard the sun was out and the front section had retracted. The crane on the quay next to the vessel is even larger than the ones that come to load the usual turbine sections. I imagine its journey down the West road to town was interesting. Perhaps loading will start before the end of the afternoon.
