Kween of Kandy
A visit to a spice garden this morning - guided by one of the creepiest men I have come across in a VERY long time. Everyone in the group felt the same, despite the fact that none of us could really put a finger on the reason why.
A long drive into the hills took us to the city of Kandy and our rather upmarket hotel for the night. We took in a cultural show which included dancing, drumming and fire dancing. Then on we went to visit the Temple of the Tooth. The tooth came from Buddha's funeral pyre and is kept in a jewelled casket. Pilgrims (and tourists) book tickets months in advance and queue for hours to file past the casket. We looked on from behind the table of floral offerings and managed to catch a quick glimpse when the doors were opened to let the next lot through.
Back in our hotel, we had dinner under a canopy in the garden - I could get used to being the Kween of Kandy!
