Escalier

I finished this painting today. It is an oil painting, 28 by 22 inches in size. I'm calling it "Escalier" or staircase in French. The reference photo is one I took on my trip to France last November. It is a staircase in the smaller building on the grounds of the chateau in Auvers sur Oise where Vincent Van Gogh lived has last years and died. I was attracted to the shadow patterns. I'm considering doing a series of staircase paintings now. Feels good to be doing something a bit different. My friends found this painting a bit eerie and creepy. It's also a bit mysterious. Where does it go. We didn't take the staircase, just passed it by, so I don't know where it goes.
