Wet Lunchtime
In fact pick anytime of the day and it was raining. I think the drought has broken. We packed the truck this morning and headed south. Before we left I took my caterpillars over the road to Ann who is going to babysit them. We both thought it was a little silly but agreed if we don't help the caterpillars along we won't enjoy the sight of Monarch butterflies floating through our gardens. She has already had three butterflies hatch.
With us today was Sandra a friend from way, way back. The forester met her tramping in the Nelson lakes. She was an experienced tramper and introduced him to muesli. He remembers liking it but he couldn't spell it when he wrote about it in his diary. Her sister ended up marring his best friend and we have been in and out of each others lives for the past 40 something years. Sandra is also coming with us on the Fiordland adventure. Usually on long car trips we play music but today it was conversation all the way.
Tonight we are in Christchurch with a rest day tomorrow before the long drive to TeAnau on Saturday.
One photo taken and it is of the tarn at the St James Walkway. We ate our lunch under the trampers shelter. We were all glad we hadn't been walking through the rain carry a pack. Of course for me that was never a possibility :-)
