House Hunting - And So It Begins

Well, folks, I think it's official - R and I are on the hunt for a house . . . or a townhouse (because it IS San Diego and home prices are outrageous here). We are taking it slow and our goal is to find something/be moved by June 2013 (when our lease expires) . . . so that's about 9 months.

Anyway, we went to see some new construction townhomes in a neighborhood we really like. New construction appeals to both of us and these ones will be ready by next spring - which is good timing for us. We REALLY liked this model - I know it's a strange photo, showing the split level great room/living room . . . 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath, 2 car garage, about 1500 sq. ft. . . . there were a couple of downs to the place though: stackable washer/dryer only in a hall closet . . . I'd love to have an actual laundry room), lack of a 4th bedroom (we really want a guest room/office and we are pretty sure we're going to have a second baby in a couple of year so it might be a little cramped), small patio (both a pro and a con since neither of us like gardening but it would be nice to have a sligthly larger outdoor space for the groms). But the pros were abundant: great coastal location in top school district, brand new, gorgeous kitchen with island, walk-in closets, master suite with his/her sinks and lovely bathroom, located close to shopping and library.

It was definitely something that will be a meauring stick for other properties we are looking forward to see in the next few months.
