Our Street in Rio
Not the first time I've blipped our street here in Rio and probably won't be the last! I love the dappled look when the sun shines at this time of year and this is the view when you turn into it from the bottom and our building's on the right. The sun shone today in more ways than one when we another guy came from Net (the internet supplier) and was very thorough and in our studio and building for about 2 hours and voila we got re-connected with much faster wifi than before! It still surprises me how difficult it is without internet to go about your daily things and not be able to just pop into this site or that and check something.
On the downside, we got talking to the guy from Net and he spoke eloquently and passionately about Brazil and the state it's in those days. He remembers being able to play in the street as a child and he says he wouldn't let his two kids out alone these days. He said that there was a gun fight in his area last night. Ok, he doesn't live in Copacabana, nor do I think he lives in a favela. He'd love to be able to take his family to live in Australia, Canada or, his first choice, Portugal. He didn't seem to speak with bitterness, but with sadness and helplessness that so many people just can't get out of their situation.
