Stanley park exotica
A quick trip into Stanley Park, Blackpool to see if there was any sign yet of the herons building/restoring their nest sites. Nothing happening, which was not unexpected as it is a bit early in the year for activity to start. The usual suspects, gulls, coots and mallards, on the lake, along with the odd tufted duck. (See extras)
A couple pointing at something in the trees led me to investigate and was surprised to see a pair of parakeets in the branches. Very unexpected in this part of the country, especially in January. Being very coy and hiding in the trees I could not get an image until one came down for water in a nearby puddle where I managed a quick grab shot.
