The Kissing Penguins
We had a drive South to Hout Bay (South Africa) which is about 20 minutes from our apartment for a walk around this harbour town. We engaged the ship Captain called Greg on the pier (see extra) who entertained us for half an hour with many stories. He reminded me of the granddad in Only Fools And Horses. No doubt he spun a yarn but was very engaging and made a good portrait photo with his characterful face.
After reffreshments in a harbour cafe (tea and a cold drink was 31 rands =£1.85) we drove through Chapmans Peak (a toll road 45 rands £2.70) that shortens the journey to Cape Point. We hit Simons Town which we were told to visit. within the town is Boulders Beach, the home of the South African Penguin. I caught a couple in the shade engaged in a heavy petting session! There are two beaches (one is subject to an entry fee) linked by a wooden path and these were midway between the two beaches. As we had no shade we didn't stop on a beach as it's just too hot.
