Kew Gardens Station Footbridge

I was waiting here earlier and started idly wondering what the little curved protrusions off the side of the footbridge are. A visit to Wikipedia has since provided the answer: "It ... has protrusions on either side of the deck to deflect smoke away from the bridge structure."
