The Joy of January

I have been out today - and here's the picture to prove it. We walked in Swinnie Forest - chosen because the track is firm and dry. It doesn't go anywhere, just through the trees, spruce mainly, and there's nothing to see, just spruce trees. Sometimes there's a blown-over spruce tree with its roots on show.  

There's quite a lot of lichen. Lichen likes clean air and moisture.  We have plenty of both. 

It also likes low light levels.  We have that too, especially today. And tomorrow. On Monday it will rain. Then we will have three days of snow. But next Friday, we will see the sun. 

Of course the weather forecast is not to be relied on ......
