Lion's Mane Jelly Fish aka Giant JF or Hairy JF
These Jelly Fish are not usually found in our harbour and definitely not in the numbers we are seeing this summer. I clambored down a concrete wall then rolled up my trousers and waded into the shallows negotiating slippery rocks to get this shot. Reckon it was worth it. I have a short video on my You Tube channel too. I think it may have been feeding amongst the sea weed.
This is the largest jelly species in the world and yes it does sting. Poison stuns their prey.
