beach find

Picked this up on the beach a while back. One of a collection of finds that are gathering at my door.

Spent the morning on paperwork, then out into a very windy day with horizontal rain. This made for an interesting drive over to Stromness to drop J ready for her trip south tomorrow. We set off mid-afternoon, thinking that the Barriers might be closed later on - so arrived in time to have tea. It took a while to find somewhere, so we were a bit wet and windswept when we burst into a bright hotel bar, empty save two very cheery young waitresses. Perhaps they were amused at how happy we were to find, not only were they open, but they could serve as a hot meal!

Boats north and south were cancelled tonight but J was assured hers would go. (It doesn't leave until tomorrow morning, when the weather is supposed to have calmed down.)

On then to dancing, where the first question when I arrived was, 'Have you brought your toothbrush?'. In fact, I had, just in case, but in the event I crossed back safely with only minimal splashing of waves.
