Serious question now ...

Going to the funeral of a friends mum on Friday and haven't asked her about wearing black. One of her friends asked her on a group we've made, the question about black ... the answer came back: I guess lots of people will be dark but would be nice to see a splash of colour.

So what do you think to this? Will I stick out like a sore thumb or should I go with tradition?
