Where Did All The Birds Go?

Earlier today was noticed a distinct lack of birds around our backyard feeders.

I quickly discovered the reason for the low occupancy rate when I spotted this hawk sitting in one of the pines that hosts our feeders.

There he was, looking all proud and big as you please acting as king of the feeders.

I suspect this area of our backyard is on his regular patrol route.
