What a busy day!  Work this morning, after virtually no sleep last night :(

Interview this afternoon which went ok I think though it was a 'three person panel' the like of which I've never had before.... so now I wait to hear what will happen in the next few days...

Then, I contacted a plumber known by someone I know who I can trust...and he'd just finished a job so came straight round.  He's bypassed the stopcock because its had it basically and disconnected the hot water supply for me, so I'm all ready to order my new washing machine :)

Now I need to clean up!
