Andy

A lovely day.  A car load of us went up to Rothbury for the day.  We took flowers to the cemetery and wandered around some of the old haunts.  The family house in Thropton is still recognisable, but now has a nice new porch and is looking much more modern.  Gone is the wood store and Granda's shed!

Extra is a watering hole called The Pant.  We all used to drink from it as kids, so Andy did today for old time's sake. Icy cold!  It has the same cup metal attached to it, albeit with a new chain.

My brother, sisters and I spent quite a bit of time with Andy when we were little, and it was really nice to reminisce together.   Emailing is all very well, but it is really good to meet up face to face occasionally.  Goodness knows when the next opportunity will be . . .

His lovely Sicilian Australian wife, Lina, cooked a wonderful meal at night, with a proper Tiramisu for pud, with vast quantities of Marsala in it, and also poured over it!

Back at Liz's house, where I am sharing her globe trotting daughter's bedroom with a life size cut out of David Tennant and several Benedict Cumberbatch posters, she and I talked for hours.  This has really been a super time, catching up and actually talking, rather than brief, snatched chats on the phone or occasional letters.
